Hockey Analytics from Standard Game Footage

Backed by over seven years of university research, our technology generates advanced hockey analytics using standard, single-camera game footage. Our proprietary computer vision system uses a combination of player tracking, and activity recognition algorithms to flag specific game events such as shots or passes, timestamp them, and record their xy coordinates on the ice. Once the raw data is collected, machine learning and pattern recognition techniques are utilized to extract meaningful insights, allowing broadcasters, teams, analysts and fans see and understand the game in a way previously not possible.

Senior Designer
    SPORTLOGiQ is the leading provider of advanced analytics data for professional hockey teams and broadcast media. As a Senior Designer, you will lead the design of our next generation advanced hockey analytics platform, providing our users with powerful analysis tools and compelling visualizations using SPORTLOGiQ’s unique data set, and be the creative voice of the company’s online presence. Responsibilities:
  • Designing UX of the web and mobile platform through iterative wire framing and prototyping.
  • Designing innovative visualizations of advanced hockey analytics data, both for web and broadcast (video) media.

  • Creating, managing and owning the organization and distribution of design assets.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or related field such as Graphics Design, Industrial Design, Visual Arts or Computer Science.
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience as a UX Designer, Interaction or Web Designer or similar UX-related role.
  • Strong understanding of usability principles.
  • Experience creating prototypes or highly detailed wireframes.
  • Experience building pixel-perfect interface designs for development.
  • Experience creating responsive / adaptative web designs.
  • Experience designing custom data visualizations.
  • Master Photoshop, Illustrator, and prototyping tools (InVision, Axure, Balsamiq).
  • Proficient in HTML/CSS/JS (can create working prototypes).
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating all of the above.
  • Experience working with video animation tools (After Effects) an asset.

Computer Vision Researcher

As a Computer Vision researcher, you will be a part of our highly talented research team, building our next generation advanced sport analytics platform. Responsibilities:
    Our ideal candidate would have strong academic experience developing novel computer vision and machine learning techniques and applying them to solve real-world problems. The selected candidate will be part of the computer vision and video analysis team, and will be in charge of the development of novel methods for solving computer vision and image processing problems such as real-time human detection, tracking, and human activity recognition. The candidate will also be in charge of maintaining and improving the functionality of existing products.
Responsibilities:
  • PhD in with research experience in computer vision and machine learning.
  • High proficiency in C/C++ or Python.
  • Ability to develop large-scale systems working with image/video data.
  • Strong working knowledge of software architecture and data structure.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
Desired Skills & Experience:
  • Publications in relevant fields in top-tier conferences and journals.
  • Research experience in “multi target tracking” or “activity/interaction recognition”.
  • Experience programming parallel and/or multi-core architectures and/or other hardware accelerators (CUDA).
  • Up-to-date knowledge and understanding of recent advances in machine learning, particularly deep learning.
